Felony Registry of Motor Vehicle Fraud Against College Student Case Does Not Issue After Clerk Magistrate Hearing
Our client is a college student who is at a university in the south on a baseball and academic scholarship. A few months ago he was in Massachusetts visiting a family member celebrating a birthday. At the time, our client was underaged. He was carrying a fake driver’s license, one that closely resembled a real identification. He presented it to a bouncer at a local karaoke bar. Troubled by the youthful appearance of our client, the balancer kept the ID and provided it to police detectives who run a detail investigating false identification and registry fraud. The detectives quickly learned that the identification was fake. Our client received a summons for a clerk magistrate hearing charging him with registry fraud under G.L. c. 90 section 24B. Today attorney Neyman convinced the magistrate not to issue the complaint.
