Charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident With Property Damage against AI Engineer do Not Issue After Clerk Magistrate Hearing
Our client is an AI engineer with an undergraduate degree as well as a masters degree in engineering from a top twenty university. Several months ago he was visiting friends in Boston. The roads were snowing and slippery. He parked to get some takeout food and returned to find his car blocked in by a vehicle parked behind him illegally. Our client tried to maneuver his vehicle out of the situation. In doing so he hit the other car after which he fled the area. The driver of the other car followed him and called the police. Officers arrived, conducted their investigation and decided to summons our client for a clerk magistrate hearing charging him with leaving the scene with property damage in violation of G.L. c. 90 section 24. Today, at the clerk magistrate hearing we convinced the clerk not to issue the complaint.
