Lexington Sex Crimes

Lexington has a place in American history as the site of the first shots fired in the Revolutionary War, as part of the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The town of 31,400 is proud of its history, and celebrates each July 4 with a special reenactment of the battles. In modern Boston, Lexington is an affluent bedroom community within commuting distance of jobs in Boston and the Route 128 corridor. Until the early to mid-20th Century, Lexington remained a fairly small town with a farm economy. But the introduction of the trains and later automobiles transformed the town into a highly desired place to live. Lexington residents with less serious legal matters such as child pornography possession are served by the Concord District Court. The Woburn Superior Court handles serious felonies involving Lexington, such as forcible rape or sexual assault on a child.

Serious Sex Charges Deserve a Vigorous Defense

Sex crimes are serious business in Lexington and throughout Massachusetts. Our society treats them differently from other crimes, in part because we can react hysterically or with shame to any ideas about sex. In our state, many sex crimes carry a potential sentence of "life or any amount of years" in prison, leaving defendants' fate very much up in the air. To make matters worse, people convicted of certain sex crimes must register as sex offenders after they finish prison, so they will continue to have serious restrictions on their freedom for 20 years to life. And then there are the personal and social consequences, including strain on marriages, firing or discipline at work and public embarrassment.

The Law Offices of Stephen Neyman can help. Since opening our doors in 1990, we have successfully represented numerous Massachusetts residents accused of serious sex-related offenses. Our lead attorney, Stephen Neyman, is an experienced former prosecutor who understands what prosecutors need to prove their cases — and now puts that knowledge to work defending clients. Despite what some defendants think, there are plenty of ways to defend sex charges. In many of these cases, the only witnesses to the actual act are the defendant and the accuser, so officers frequently have to decide who is more believable, based on nothing more than both people's stories. Sometimes, however, officers rely on gender stereotypes or personal prejudices to make that decision. When that's the case, we fight back with a defense based on physical and circumstantial evidence that might undermine the accuser's story.
