Charges of Sex for a Fee Against Non-Citizen Software Developer do Not Issue After Clerk Magistrate Hearing
Our client is a software developer. He is also not a citizen of this country. In May of this year it was alleged that our client was soliciting women dressed like prostitutes for sexual services. Unbeknownst to our client the women were undercover police officers assigned to a task force targeting men like this. After a minute or two of negotiations our client was summonsed for a clerk magistrate hearing seeking to charge him with sex for a fee under G.L. c. 272 section 53. Had a criminal complaint been issued against our client he would likely have difficulty obtaining citizenship. Our office succeeded in convincing the magistrate not to issue the criminal complaint.
